outfits: denim for days

boohoo, back to my instagram pics.  i've been lurving denim like no ones business these days.  despite not enjoying wearing jeans all that much i want to wear it everywhere else.  i've also been trying to rotate in some oldies that have been hiding in the closet.  like the jeans in no. 2.  i've been wanting some boyfriend cut jeans for a while but they're all too baggy on my midget legs.  i tried on this old pair of joes jeans to see if it was time to send them to crossroads/buffalo exchange (more on that in a future post).  usually the boyf hates anything too "fashionable" but he says, oh did you finally find some boyfriend jeans?  success!

i've been in a bit of a hair rut lately, so i've been forcing myself to try out new things.  this style is really easy and there's a tutorial here.  and it leaves your hair curly if you sleep with it up overnight.  two for one, YAY.  also i've been reading too much manga (i know i'm a secret dork and fourteen) which lead me to this funny little 'do in no. 3.  i got a lot of weird comments at work but i thought it was cute.  so they can't get me down!

cocktails: citrus lillet spritzer

i realize its been a while since i posted a cocktail recipe.  my last one was way back in november.  sadly i haven't been enjoying any exciting new cocktails at home.  winter usually brings on the beer, then guilt sets in and i move on to wine or gin and tonics.  now i'm bored with those as well.  so i like to see what i can make at 11pm on a saturday night with the ingredients i have have laying around.  turning to my trusty pinterest cocktail board i can usually find something.  enter the citrus lillet spritzer.  like most recipes i find it has good bones but not exactly what i want.  there was just too much lillet and oj action in this drink.  with a splash of champagne.  sorry martha, you had it all wrong; there always needs to be more champagne.  this is a good example as why you'll never see a baking recipe on this blog.  it would be an utter disaster.  i'm aware baking recipes are an exact science.

citrus lillet spritzer

ingredients:
1.5 oz lillet
1.5 oz oj
champagne
orange zest for garnish

directions:
pour lillet and oj into a champagne flute and top with champagne.

basically a fancilfied mimosa.  now go impress your girlfriends. <3

outfits: a day for saints

hi!  finally a proper outfit post.  thanks to turning the clocks ahead i've been able to get outside when there's daylight.  and the sun decided to make an appearance after the snow storm blew through the city.

this past weekend was one of those weekends where you get to do things at your own pace.  after two trips to the mountains and the boyf's birthday it was nice to have things be low key.  saturday voss, terris and i braved the snow and headed south to find some new goods for the neon nightmare shop.  and found lots of great stuff.  i behaved myself and didn't bring home any personal items.

for linner the boyf and i sought refuge at kushi bar (which has become my new fav spot).  although the bars and streets were packed with people celebrating st. patty's day, the restaurant only had a few patrons.  guess any non-pub was a good choice for a relaxing meal.  since it was so nice out we were able to walk home.  which lead to us popping into kuhlman's and the boyf having to drag me out before i pulled out the credit card to by this pendleton portland collection coat.  i'm still tempted to go back and buy it.  it was on sale.....he should've let me buy it so it would've been remembered as the st. paddy's i bought that fabulous coat and not the st. paddy's that i saw two drunk college kids mooning each other in the middle of the day.  for the record i see drunk people's butts far more often than i'd like to admit.  such is life. :)

had to wear some obligatory green of course.  this boy scout shirt was my dad's when he was a kid!  sadly it doesn't have any of the patches on it anymore, perhaps they got moved to a larger sized shirt at some point.   i've had it for a sometime but recently started wearing it.  i think its quickly become one of my new favorite shirts.  i've also been living in this unif tank.  its so soft, it feels like one of those shirts you've had for ages that have just the right amount of wear.  i put this on instagram too and unif liked it!!  i just about died.  i'm sure she likes anything that has a unif hashtag but still.  i was giddy for the rest of the evening.

wearing:
shirts ~ vintage, target
tank ~ unif
coat ~ club monaco
jeans ~ levi's
boots ~ sam edelman
sunnies ~ karen walker

finally tried kushi bar's okonomiyaki.  i think my version is better but its a treat to have it at a restaurant and not many japanese restaurants in seattle have it on the menu.   emo made some awesome okonomiyaki but sadly they've been closed for some time.

on the way home we found a box outside an antique store with some free treasures.  lets just say i left that creepy clown behind.

hope you had a fabulous weekend too.

outfits: red on red on red

this tomatoy orange red has been my favorite shade of red for ages.  finally its been popular the past few season so i've been slowly stocking up on some colored items.  and somehow navy blue has replaced black in my wardrobe.  and i not so secretly like wearing the two together.  i know, i vomited a little in my mouth just saying that.

its been rainy and snowy around here AGAIN.  this weather is really putty a cramp in my wardrobe.  although i did manage to pull myself together a few times.  outfit one sums up my life motto as of late "throw a denim shirt over it".  voss agrees, it instantly makes an outfit cooler.  lets just say i froze my butt off in outfit two.  but george thought i smelt nice. <3 at first i hated number three, it was one of those days i wish i had just changed into a safety outfit but i was running extra late for the bus so i had to just go with it.  if you follow me on instagram you know i was sulking about it all day. BUT by the end of the day it grew on me.  i also got caught in a torrential downpour on the way home and had to buy one of those plastic old lady rain bonnets.  i think they might be on to something!  now i need to figure out how to turn it into this.

outfits: slacking

Major slacking this past week friends, but heres a few instagram shots. It was cold, I mean really cold. Ok it wasn't that bad but looking at all the spring lines make it that much worse. Yesterday snow, tomorrow supposed to be close to 60. Mother nature can't make up her mind.

I also blame work. It's one of the busiest times a year and I have to look somewhat presentable so I washed my hair fell back on my safe outfits. Which aren't really all that exciting.

To make things more chaotic I thought it'd be a good idea to take a mini holiday during all of this. It was nice to get out of the city and into the mountains with the boyf and some friends but alas it wasn't very relaxing {a few photos on instagram} . Least it'll be smooth sailing for a while. Plus it's hard to be in a bad mood when spring is just around the corner. I'm already daydreaming about picnics under the blooming cherry blossom trees.

This first outfit somehow has never happened before.  These are my usual lazy day pieces yet they never make an appearance together.  now i'm sold.  this sweater has seen better days but i haven't found a replacement yet. :\

No. 2 is my other go to outfit.  denim shirt (I have two in rotation, I think I may need another) and faux leather jumper.  The boyf and I went to SAM remix that night.  I had a great time although I was a little under-dressed.  It was just so cold out that night I couldn't think of wearing anything fancy.

Last but not least, I scored this J. Crew denim dress at the thrift store the other day for $5!  Yeah you read that right, five whole dollars.  I've been in a thrifting rut but this lifted my spirits a bit.

recent happenings: no. 5

the shortest month of the year certainly felt like the longest.  so ready to welcome spring.  george was diagnosed with pancreatitis but he's slowly getting better.  he's lost so much weight and although his appetite is back he's been struggling to put weight on.  just thinking about his ribs protruding out makes me want to cry.  he also hates me for not sharing my flaming hot cheetos with him.  but i've switched him to a raw/dehydrated diet so he's beginning to forgive me.  he also permanently lives in my pendleton blanket.

on a positive note i've been cooking lots of really good food and have been paying the price a the gym. i went snowboarding for the first time and HATED IT.  haha.  least now i know.  i did enjoy the scenery and thats good enough for me.

sad dog/pre-snowboarding/apple & tomato soup/walk on a rare sunny day/drinks at kushibar/baker/japanese dinner night/family vices/thrifting - now i want a ballerina tattoo/remix @ SAM/more snuggles/more thrifting/green food is always good
